THE RIGHT PLACE
AT THE RIGHT TIME

Devin Broome and Clay Mixon met in college working as custodians at a local watering hole in Hammond, Louisiana. After graduation, Clay started his own IT company and Devin ventured into education teaching high school computer science, eventually becoming the IT Executive Director of the University of Louisiana System. In early 2016, the Louisiana Department of Corrections reached out to Devin seeking advice on a way to bring up-to-date, secure, monitored, online career/technical educational content into its correctional facilities for re-entry training.

Devin knew there was one person he could turn to in order to make this happen, his buddy Clay.

In short order, much to the amazement of the Department of Corrections, ATLO developed a secure, turnkey platform that, at its core, consisted of a monitor, keyboard and headphones and relied on no other equipment or additional technical staff. The system went through a rigorous vetting process and not only passed, but today has become the standard for re-entry education for the entire Louisiana and Mississippi Corrections Departments, and has expanded into facilities in a number of additional states. We continue to grow and today offer four core hardware and accompanying software products along with a suite of ancillary products and services that allow inmates even more opportunities to learn, test and achieve success.

OUR MISSION

MISSION

ATLO is committed to providing incarcerated students in all internet-secure environments with access to important resources to learn, train and receive certification equipping them with the skills to find gainful employment and live productive lives, which also enhances public safety and reduces recidivism.

A Unique Business Model

Model

We have an atypical business model that works well for our corrections facilities, but is truly geared to perfectly meet the needs of our primary client, the incarcerated student. Through an annual lease, we provide hardware and software to inmates through correctional facilities’ education staffs and partner with content providers who we charge no fee to add their programming to the platform. ATLO’s goal is to engage with the best education companies offering the highest quality programming and deliver that programming and testing into places that change lives.

Testing and Certification Highlights

ATLO provides the highest quality academic and vocational content from partners such as Education Testing Service, Prometric, ASE, EMC-SNAP, Teknimedia, Edgenuity, Aztec, Essential Education, JIST, NCCER, EETC, DRC and many more.

ATLO software is the first and only company approved by Education Testing Service (ETS), the nonprofit owners of the HiSET high school equivalency exam, to provide online testing inside correctional facilities.

We are the first company approved to provide online testing by Prometric, which administers certification testing for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

ATLO is the first and only company to partner with General Motors offering two Louisiana State Penitentiary inmates the auto giant’s technician certification program after they were hired by a prominent Louisiana car dealership while still incarcerated. After release, the former inmates started at a salary of $42,00 per year because they became officially GM certified the same week they began work at the dealership.

ATLO is the first company to bring online TABE education and testing into prisons. Our TABE testing platform allows corrections education staff the ability to more readily assess students’ progress and prepare them for high school equivalency exams.
